The registered trustees of Community Action for People Participation (CAPP) is a local non-governmental organization in Malawi and is registered with the Council for non government Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA) CAPP works in the areas of : Youth empowerment; Socio-economic development; Health; Agriculture and Climate change.
CAPP with funding support from New Zealand Embassy has been implementing a dairy farmers club project aimed at Improving Livelihood of women and youth through Milk production. The project which has been implemented in Chiradzulu district targeted 200 small-scale dairy farmers in three traditional authorities of Likoswe,Mpama and Kadewere. The dairy farmers were from three Agriculture Extension Planning Areas (EPAs) of Thumbwe, Mbulumbuzi and Mombezi.
Primary beneficiaries: 200 (60% women, 30% youth and 10% Men) small scale dairy farmers. Secondary Beneficiaries: 1000 family members from the 200 small scale dairy farmers who were recruited and took part in the project implementation.
The project under review has successfully achieved a number of areas in the following activities; Training on dairy management, Group formation and dynamics, Village Savings and loans Associations and Pasture establishment.
The project has also supported the farmers with Bicycles and Milk churns which will go along way to alleviate the challenges the farmers have been encountering on Milk storage as well as transportation to the milk Bulking group centers but also transporting the animal feed.
